Fish at Abbey Lakes with Angling International

The Abbey Lakes Complex now sponsored by Mainline Baits can be found only 2 hours from Calais along the A1 towards Paris. The complex has been open now for 6 years and the carp have grown considerably from when they were first stocked as doubles. This complex of lakes has been quoted as the French version on the Linear complex in Oxford . The average across Fox and Heron lakes is fast approaching thirty pounds and with many forty pound carp a few fifties and carp going over sixty pounds then a personal best could be broken. No need to travel hundreds of miles in search of large carp when they are within throwing distance of England .

Heron Lake is full of stunning carp like this 47lb beauty.

Once two very easy run's waters the carp have wised up on Fox and Heron but with a little thought these carp can be caught. An English approach on both lakes is all that is needed. They do love the bait at the start of the season but don't over do it as you can't take it back out again.

If you are after an easy water then Attilla is the one for you. This lake has been specially stocked with hundreds of fast growing carp. Again these fish love the food and it won't be long before it will contain as many big carp as Fox and Heron. The average size is 15 to 22lb with the biggest carp going close to forty. If you fancy a very easy water then why not drop in on Attila to get your rods bent.

Inside the Abbey Lakes Club HouseFrogs Lake can be found opposite the club house and has been very popular over the years as a big carp water. The Abbey Lakes owners have taken control of Frogs and are turning this lake in to a group only water where groups of up to six can book the whole lake and get breakfasts and evening meals included in the price. The water contains some surprises and recent stockings have seen 50 x thirty pound plus carp introduced. Not an easy water but one where you come and catch some big carp, be fed and enjoy the Abbey Lakes hospitality.

The clubhouse at Abbey has been described by many anglers as the best they have seen. A converted barn that contains a shower block with toilets and sinks, a tackle shop with baits and tackle from English companies such as Mainline and Korda, a bar with cold draft beer, pool table and restaurant with food available all day.

Prices start at around £60 for a weekend break on Attila, to £240 for a week on Fox or Heron.

Sessions can run from any day of the week and can be for any length of time, so you can fit your fishing around work and holidays.
